HourTracker — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 June 2026
HourTracker ("the app") is developed by Oskari Rauta ("we", "us"). This policy explains
what data the app handles and how.
In short: HourTracker does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. Your
information stays on your device and, if you choose to enable it, in your own private iCloud
account. We have no servers that receive your data and no access to it.
No account, no tracking
- The app has no sign-up and no login — you do not create an account with us.
- We use no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. The app does
not track you across other apps or websites, and contains no advertising SDKs.
- We do not receive, store, or have access to the data you enter.
Where your data is stored
- Everything you enter — work hours, employers and clients, invoices, expenses, payslips,
and settings — is stored locally on your device.
- If you turn on iCloud sync (which is off by default), your data is synchronized
through your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, into your iCloud
private database. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
(https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). We cannot see or access it.
Optional device features
The app uses certain device capabilities only when you choose to use the related feature,
and the resulting data stays on your device / within your own data:
- Location — if you tap "insert current city," the app uses your location once to
determine your city (via Apple-provided geocoding) and inserts the city name into your
event description. Location is used only at that moment, is not stored separately,
is not linked to your identity, and is not used for tracking.
- Camera / Photos — used only when you attach an image to a report. The image becomes
part of your own data.
- Contacts — the app shows the system contact picker so you can fill in a name and
email. The app does not read your address book on its own.
- Notifications — the app schedules local reminders on your device (e.g. invoice due
or overdue). No push notification servers are involved.
Purchases
Optional subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store using StoreKit. Apple
processes the payment; we never see or store your payment information. Apple provides the
app with your purchase/subscription status so the app can unlock the corresponding features.
Backups
You can create encrypted backup files (.htdb). These are created and stored by you
(for example in Files or iCloud Drive, or wherever you choose to save or share them) and
contain your data in encrypted form. They are not sent to us.
Sharing your data — only when you choose
The app helps you produce documents (invoices, reports, payslips, exports). Any sending —
for example emailing an invoice to a client — happens only when you initiate it and goes
only to the recipients you choose. We are not involved in that transmission and receive
nothing.
Data retention and deletion
- Your data lives on your device, and in your own iCloud if you enabled sync.
- Deleting the app removes its local data from that device. Data held in your iCloud is
managed through your iCloud account and settings; the app also provides an option to reset
its iCloud data.
Children
HourTracker is a productivity and small-business tool and is not directed at children.
